As it promises you immense leisure and good time, so it’s your responsibility to maintain it properly and keep it in good working condition throughout the year. Rodents, wind, waves, dust, UV rays and some water bodies may harm your boat terribly. In order to keep all these harmful elements at bay from posing any threat to your boat you must install a right kind of boat cover on your boat.

Custom boat covers for a perfect fit

Definitely brand name works a lot like that of Sunbrella or Bayliner. But another option available to provide ultimate protection to your dearest possession is the custom boat covers. These are designed specifically in accordance with the size and style of your boat and are tailor-made to meet your personal needs. You can get the alteration and modifications done right at the time of designing.

Readymade boat covers may not necessarily have the same fitting as desired by you. For instance, they may not be made as per your boat’s design and once you have made the purchase you are not left with any other alternative but to use that ill-fitting boat cover somehow. However, in case of custom boat covers you are spared from such hurdles and hassles. You can choose the fiber, color and design as per your requirement which makes custom boat covers favorite amongst people who love spending long time on water.

Nonetheless, the quality and assurance provided by boat covers from big manufacturers can also not be superseded, if it fits your boat well. So, it all depends on you if you think customized boat covers are best for your boat or the branded ones.

Tips On Buying A Bass Boat

Bass Boats have gone through a tremendous evolution to get to the point where they are today. The first “bass boat” was considered to be a hulled out canoe made from chippings off of very large trees. The Caddo Indians of east Texas and western Louisiana are credited with this type of boat “invention.”

They used these boats to fish to provide food for their families. Bass during that time were the number one food choice to enable families to survive. Fortunately for these families, bass were found in very large supplies in the swampy waterways of the southeastern United States, exactly where these tribes were located. Thus began the evolution of the bass boat as we know it today. Below are present day considerations and tips for purchasing a bass boat.

Consider your Towing Vehicle:

Bass boats and trailers with a full tank of gas and loaded with all the fishing gear easily weighs over 3500 pounds. Before you consider your purchase of a bass boat, make sure your towing vehicle can handle to the load. Also, remember to take into consideration towing up mountains and hills.

Bass Boats:

There are key questions that an angler looking into buying a bass boat needs to ask themselves. Where are you primarily going to be doing your fishing? What is the size of the body of water? Will it be small lakes and rivers? If so, perhaps all you will need is a small boat with a small outboard motor. If you are planning on fishing in larger bodies of water, a minimum of 19-foot boat is your best choice. Overall, the three main characteristics recognized and looked for in the bass boat of today are shallow draft, maneuverability and stability of the boat.

Lastly, if this is going to be your first bass boat purchase, you might want to consider buying a used boat. This way you can gain more experience and have a better idea of what you want in your next new boat purchase.

Aluminum Bass Boats:

Aluminum boats are much less expensive than fiberglass boats. Additionally aluminum boats are much more forgiving of occurrences that inevitable happen on the water; banging into a dock, running up into shallows, hitting submerged rocks or stumps and so forth. The downside is that aluminum bass boats ride much rougher than fiberglass boats and are easily blown around by even the slightest wind. Again, the size of the body you plan to bass fish on is clearly a tremendously important component in the decision making. If you are intending to fish in a small lake, a 16-17 foot aluminum bass boat would likely be a good choice.

Fiberglass Boats:

Fiberglass bass boats are much more expensive than aluminum but clearly there are reasons for this. Fiberglass bass boats are capable of handling rougher and bigger bodies of water, they give the boater a much smoother ride and they can go much faster than aluminum bass boats. Experts suggest that if you are considering going with a fiberglass bass boat that you purchase one with a 4-stroke outboard engine as opposed to a 2-stroke engine.

The reasoning is that even though they cost a bit more, they cover much more water as far as fuel is concerned, they are much quieter and much cleaner than a 2-stroke. The reduced fuel cost is estimated to pay-off for the additional cost of the engine in the long run. To give you an idea of the cost of a fiberglass bass boat, they usually range from ,000 to a ,000 top of the line boat.

New vs. Used Bass Boats:

There are advantages of buying a used bass boat. Clearly they will be less expensive than a new one and historically, used bass boats hold their value much better than a new one. Also, as mentioned above, is this is your first bass boat purchase, buying a used boat will give you a better understanding of what you may or may not want if you ever decide down the road to purchase a new bass boat. There are also disadvantages of purchasing a used bass boat. In the simplest way to state it, you may be buying someone else’s headache.

Outboard engines, as are found on bass boats, are known to be short lived and it is difficult to determine this on a causal inspection of the boat. The best suggestion is to either buy from someone you trust or have a professional inspect the boat and engine before purchasing. Lastly, just as in purchasing a car, the seller needs to be willing to negotiate on price with a used bass boat sale.

Obviously, the biggest advantage to buying a new bass boat is warranties and the sheer joy of owning a brand new bass boat!

Boat Handling:

Whether you decide to purchase a new or used bass boat, learning to handling it is a process that takes time. Every boat has its own “personality” and handles differently in every way. From launching to retrieval to water handling, bass boats are all different. A few examples of these differences are the sounds your engine makes when it is trimming, the way it pulls out and into shallow water and the correct engine positioning and trim tab positioning to get it up on plane. Bass boats are all different. Realizing this and knowing that it will take time to learn your boat will encourage you to spend more time on the boat and enjoying the wonderful sport of bass fishing!

Zooplankton Diversity: Fresh Water Cladocera in Mizoram

By Dr. Lalthlamuana Pachuau
Research Associate
Mizoram Pollution Control Board

Studies on fresh water bodies such as ponds, lakes, reservoirs, wetlands, rivers, streams have gained much importance in recent years due to their importance. These water bodies harbours wide array of aquatic organisms, in particular Plankton. They form a very important part of fresh water community and contribute significantly to aquatic productivity. Therefore, the information about plankton is essential to understand the functioning and trophic dynamic of different water bodies. In addition certain planktonic organisms are valuable indicators of trophic status of various aquatic biotopes.

Plankton are microscopic organisms that live suspended in the water environment and thousands of these organisms can be found in fresh water ecosystem, many factors can affect the distribution of plankton in an ecosystem and can be divided into two categories – Phytoplankton and Zooplankton.

Among these two categories, Cladocera under Zooplankton is one of the most interesting group and are commonly termed as ‘water fleas’ because of their characteristics jerky swimming action of location. They are found in almost every type of fresh water biotopes and play a vital role in aquatic food chain and they serve as major prey items for many species of invertebrates and vertebrates. Further, Moina and
Daphnia species are cultured and used as supplementary live fish-food for various pisiculture and aquaculture practices.

General morphology: Cladocerans are microscopic organisms generally range in size < 250 μm in chydorid genus, 4 – 6 m in daphniid genera and leptodora genus is the largest member which can reach up to the length of 18mm. The cladocerans in general are characterized by the presence of their two biramus antennae which is used for locomotion. Head consist of large compound eye and ocellus is present in certain species. The carapace (hard upper cell of the body) is rounded, oval or elongated with or without posterior spine and generally have five or six pairs of thoracic limbs.

Collection and preservation and identification: Plankton samples can be collected by towing or dragging Nylobolt plankton net (no#25) in open-waters bodies and preserved in 5% formalin. The collected plankton samples are screened by taking out a few drops of samples with the help of a dropper and put on a slide and screened by using stereoscopic dissecting binocular microscope. Different taxa will be identified following important works of Michael and Sharma (1988), Smirnov (1971, 1976), Korovchinsky (1992) and other relevant literature.

Study sites in Mizoram: Plankton samples were collected from different water bodies in various districts of Mizoram such as Lake (3 places), Wetland (3 places), Fish Pond (10 places), Reservoir (2 places), Paddy field (4 places), Stream (2 places), Seepage water (1 place).

Result: 18 species of Cladocera are documented (photograph shown below); among these the most common species recorded is Chydorus sphaericus. This is just a preliminary survey in the state of Mizoram and it is expected that there are still many more species yet to be discovered in this field.

Fresh Water Dispenser

We have been so concerned with a lot of different problems that affect our world today, but there are some issues that remain overlooked. One of these would be the availability of fresh drinking water. Did you know that more than thirty-five thousand people die daily because of impure or no drinking water?

If we look at greater figures, that equates to twelve million people dying annually because of a lack of fresh water. Where we buy our water is one thing, but where we store it in our homes is also another. While we have been used to storing our drinking water in classic water coolers, ceramic water crocks are also gaining popularity these days, and it comes as no surprise why this is a more ideal choice.

Feel free to leaf through your old history books and you will find out that water crocks are not a new technological discovery. In the olden times, even before the refrigerators were invented, people from different parts of the globe were able to enjoy fresh cold water from ceramic like crocks. While this was probably made of clay or other material, the concept is essentially the same: storing water in a natural container without the use of chemicals or even electricity.

There are still other options to water dispensers aside from water crocks and coolers, but these are less popular in urbanized areas. One example would be filtered tap water which involves purchasing small filters and attaching them to faucets and spouts. Recently, there have been more complaints about impure water. This has driven the majority of the community to purchase bottled water instead. Bottled water has become a more convenient approach to making sure that your water is safe. You can go to a new city (even a new country for that matter) and just ask for bottled water. That is how dependent we have been on buying what we drink from plastic bottles.

What is great about these new ceramic water crocks is that it can give you the benefits of fresh and cold water without the environmental risks and also without racking up your electricity bill. Since the containers are made of ceramic, it removes the “plastic taste” that is present in most water coolers. You do not have to plug it in. It is not difficult to replace or clean. You can use tap water and put it in the water crock.

Various types of ceramic water crocks are available in the market today. You can now choose from a variety of vibrant colors, designs and sizes. If you are the type who likes everything color coordinated in their home, then the water crock will be ideal for you! There are also sizes that are ideal for table tops and counter stands. For bigger spaces, floor stands are also sold in various retail stores in the country.

We do not want to take the safety of our fresh drinking water for granted. If you want purified and safe water for you and your family, ceramic water crocks will be your best possible choice.

The Deep Sea

By the side of the dazzling sea, stood blue-eyed Shelly, in her diving suit, being fully equipped. The night was splendid. She sensed the sea calling out, ready to embrace and gradually lull her to an unawakened slumber. Unlike ordinary people who came by to relish the beauty of the sea, she went all alone in an absurd time, unaccompanied. Though the sea was a real charm during the day, she actually was pretty creepy at night.

Shelly was the only daughter of a famous couple, who lived in a posh house. Having grown up all alone, her life was utterly dry and she yearned for acquaintance. She wasn’t frequently allowed to mingle with neighbours. She shared intimacy with Almighty and addressed Him her troubles. Though showered with love, she longed to have a kid sister. It was after she gained a career, her parents bought her a gigantic dwelling by the beach side.

And then as she stood, she had decided to give up her life. Being young, she wasn’t mentally prepared for such an endeavour. That night, she rang her parents and wished them goodnight. She seemed strangely emotional to her mother. Shelly was fully equipped in case she couldn’t help dying and wanted to live. She rowed far and wide in her motorboat, which was her last birthday present. She ensured she hadn’t crossed the red limiting line, or else the alarm would ring in the control room. When it was fairly deep, she jumped down. A big splash! But it wasn’t actually pleasant to gulp a lot of the saline water and feel downright sick. She wanted to breathe. She grabbed her mask and connected it. The first gasp of oxygen was divine. She never loved breathing so much. Switching on the headlight, she did a bit of sea exploration and eventually decided to return home.

It was abruptly that her leg caught hold of something. She swam down. When light flashed she found a weeded trunk, which was chained. She thanked God as she found her boat. She tugged the trunk into the boat and rowed back. Her maids stood flabbergasted as Shelly was totally drenched in water. She ran to her room and left the trunk in one corner. She grabbed her towel for a fresh shower. She hadn’t dreamt of living those moments. But something strange in her heart, made her blissful.

The next day, she went to office, and was bizarrely brisk. Her colleagues were surprised by a new Shelly. Having returned home, she had her supper and read a book for a while. It was then that she noticed the trunk. However she appeared a lot apathetic. This was because sea exploration was always packed with adventure and fun. She had a whole room stuffed with huge chests. She hadn’t even let her maids to that room, which made it a lot messier.

On opening it, she found a musty diary, a blue one. It wasn’t in a fine condition. At first she glanced through the pages. Later with all due interest, she read it. She had never read an author’s book with so much interest to sacrifice her sleep. It was definite that it wasn’t a happy story. As the clock struck six in the morning, she finished reading the bulky diary. Tears welled up in her eyes and they streamed down. Something had broken her heart.

The day at office wasn’t really good. She seemed awfully depressed. She decided to take leave for a week. Her colleagues were once again surprised at a mood alteration. That night, she rang her mom and told that she was leaving for Frankfurt’s Farm and that she was in search of her old buddy.

It was a true blow for her maids. She packed her bag and took a wad of notes. She started her brand new jeep and steered off. All in mind was to find Frankfurt’s farm in Roscoe village. She travelled for about three hours and finally arrived at the place. The gate had a big padlock. She walked to the neighbours and they told her that they had shifted their home to some place else. She got into her vehicle and glimpsed through the diary. She then found the friend’s list and their contact numbers. She at once began to call everyone. Some people had no contact with the family, while others failed to answer the call. Mr. Frederick, a friend told that that they left for Evergreen village. She travelled to the village in search of Frank’s home. After an hour, she found the residence.

But this time her endurance was at stake. The gate was locked again. On examining the surroundings, she observed something engraved on the wall. It was laterally inversed. She scrabbled for her handy mirror and it read “The trunk has the key”. She ran to her car and opened the trunk. She rummaged all about but was of no avail. Suddenly, the reflected light flashed on her face. It was then she comprehended the oblique message. It was to haul off the mirror attached to the top of the trunk. Ultimately, she found a key.

She tried the key on the padlock, but it didn’t unlock. She figured it to be of the main door. The old mountain climbing champion swiftly climbed up the tall gate and jumped to the other side. Ooo…She crooned as she saw the house. It seemed real eerie and spooky with plants overgrown and fainted paint. She paced to the door. She coughed badly as it was caked with dust. She tried the key and flung the door open. It was a royal home with expensive furnishings and valuable paintings. But it was strange to call it a farmhouse. She moved from room to room. Definitely it was fun and adventure. She moved to the office room. It was more like a detective’s chamber with criminal records and investigation books. She walked to the kids’ room. It was delightful, laden with toys and paintings. It evoked a nostalgic feeling. She tidied the muddle and slept among the dolls like fairy in dreamland. It was the happiest night of her life.

The next morning, while examining the office room she pored through a diary. She finally found the orphanage address and left for Little Lamb orphanage. There she found one of Frankfurt’s daughter- Emerald. She ran to the fragile figure and squeezed her. She was a pretty girl with blonde hair and blue eyes. She explained everything to Emerald. It was very essential that Shelly find the other twin, but the nuns refused to reveal the details. They told that she was adopted by a celebrity couple.

That night when she was lying on the bed, amidst the dolls, she saw a carving on the wall- Emerald loves Amethyst. She read it to her self and it rapidly clicked. Emerald loves ‘AMETHYST’. It gave her a jolt. She jumped out of bed and seized her laptop. She was immensely glad to find the other twin’s name. She typed ‘celebrity couples’ adopted daughters’. The results appeared and she found the name Amethyst.

She was far too galvanized. She clicked on the name. To her utter surprise, she found her own picture with the name Shelly beside it. She was ready for a surprise of finding her name, being an adopted

daughter. But was least prepared, to acknowledge a bewildering shock of being Amethyst. Still with her nightdress on, she ran out of the house and steered to the orphanage. They were shocked to find her at night. She hugged Emerald and once and followed legal steps to take her home.

Finally after a month, the fraternal twins were working in the same establishment. Emerald successfully filled the hole in Amethyst’s heart. Regaining her sister was wonderful. Her adoptive parents were in fact happier. That wasn’t then end of it. Both of them were eager to find their background.

It was from Frederick they learnt that their father was a detective named Frankfurt. Their houses were named as farmhouses to confuse the criminals. Due to continuous threats they kept changing homes. Finally for their security, their parents left them in Little Lamb orphanage. On their final family voyage, Frankfurt left the details of his beloved daughters in a chest and dropped it in the sea. In the diary he asked the reader to find and save his daughters. Later they left for Paris. But they were murdered in an extremely brutal manner. In the meantime, the perky baby Amethyst particularly grabbed the adopters’ attention. They named her Shelly. Though they knew all about Frankfurt, they revealed no details to her. In fact, Shelly never wanted to know regarding her original parents as she thought they had neglected her. Finally, the sea in which she was to end her life had given her a whole new meaning and God helped her retrieve her dear sister.

Deep Sea Fishing

Deep sea fishing is an angling experience like no other. If you have never tried it, you definitely need to plan a trip soon. Deep sea fishing seems a little bit more adventures because you take a boat miles away from land and out to sea. Out there, an angler feels part of a different world where the fish outnumber man. There are fish miles offshore that are great for fishing. Many deep sea fishing charters like to hunt Tuna, Shark, Marlin, and other species. Marlin fishing and swordfish fishing is popular down in Florida. Shark is also a popular fish to catch because they put up quite a battle. Be prepared to really struggle with pulling in a fish that catches your line while deep sea fishing. Most of the species are large and they don’t take well to getting hooked.

Searching for quality deep sea fishing charters can be confusing and time-consuming.

You must make sure that you are going with a well-regarded charter to ensure your safety and good results. Word of mouth is the best way to know you are going with a great deep sea fishing charter. The internet is actually a great place to harness the power of word of mouth to see what other people like you are saying about guides. Check out FishingGuidesWorld.com, it is a great site for checking out user reviews of deep sea fishing charters. Once you pick a charter, you’ll need to make sure you have all the proper documentation to catch fish in that area. Check with the deep sea charter to see if you need to get a state fishing license before you come. Also, check out the local weather conditions to make sure you pack properly. Heading offshore without enough clothing can ruin your trip.

Deep Sea Fishing Adventure

My wife and I got an invitation, through a friend, to take a complimentary fishing trip into the Atlantic, out of Mayport, FL. We did our best to prepare for the excursion by going to a local bar and celebrating our good fortune the night before. Thoroughly intoxicated, we then closed out the night by eating pork chops and eggs and biscuits with gravy at Famous Amos restaurant. We got up at five AM, still pretty drunk and still full of greasy food, and headed to the dock.

The weather report said we could expect 3-to-5 foot seas, which is not bad. As we headed out for the open ocean, the captain told me the seas would be more like 5-to-7 foot. It meant little to me at the time, but that is a huge difference. The boat does not just go up and down. It goes up and down and rolls from one side to the other and back. There were about other people on the boat, and I noticed that the longer we headed out, the fewer people I could see on deck. When a little boy about six years old hung his head over the side and threw up, I began to get a glimmer of what was happening. When I began to get dizzy and my stomach started rolling, I thought I would go down into the cabin and lie down until I was a little calmer. There was no chance of that because the cabin was full. Everybody’s face was kind of an ashy color.

I tried fishing to take my mind off of being seasick. It did not work. After a few minutes I brought my line in and sat down on the deck. My wife lasted a little longer than I did, but only a little longer. She finally gave up fishing, too. She reeled in her line and leaned her pole against the railing. She then stuck her head through the railing to throw up. We were using squid for bait and her squid was dangling over the railing. She would throw up, recover a bit, and then the boat would rock. When it did that squid would slap her in the side of her face and stick. When the boat rolled the other way the squid would slowly peel off her face, and she would be sick all over again.

It was the longest day of my life. I kept telling my wife (and myself) that seasickness does not kill you, but that was about the only consolation we had. It is not like having some kind of stomach flu; it is much worse. I was never seasick before or since, and I hope it never happens again.

RuneScape – How to get 99 Fishing

So you want 99 fishing huh? As a veteran fisher of level 99 I will tell you the best and fastest ways to level up. This article may become out of date one day, but it should still be a great way to go.

I will begin the guide with simply having level 1 fishing all the way down to 99. If you have a certain level to start from, just scroll down to the proper area.

Level 1-5

Requirements: Fishing Net

If you are starting from anywhere between level 1-5 then this is very well your start to a high fishing level. What you will need is a fishing net. If you didn’t lose it from the tutorial you should still have one  so take that out. If you don’t have one, go to Port Sarim fishing shop and buy one, they are cheap (refer to RuneScape map to find). Go ahead and bank all other items you may be holding to be lightweight and hold as much fish as you can.

Head to draynor village (refer to RuneScape map to find). Just along the lake there is a net spot that you will be catching Shrimps in. Fill your inventory completely with them and then put them all in the bank (or cook them on the spot if you want, I recommend to cook later). Head back to the fishing spot and continue. If you like doing this, you can do it all the way to level 20 but it will be slow. If you want to continue faster leveling, refer to the next stage.

Level 5-20

Requirements: Fishing Rod, Bait

At this level, you should be good to go for quite some time. If you do not have the rod or bait, go to the fishing store and buy the items for really cheap (refer to RS map to find) Be sure to buy a good deal of bait! If you run out you can always buy more, but they are cheap so it doesn’t matter if you buy a little extra. Head back to the lake along Draynor Village and now we will be fishing herring and sardines in the bait spot. When you hit level 20 you can either stop here and move on or get to 25 for a little bit of faster fishing.

Level 20-X

Requirements: Fly Fishing Rod, Feathers

This is the fastest way of fishing in RuneScape, at higher levels of course. Head back to the fishing shop and buy a fly fishing rod and a lot of feathers. Even when your fishing level is up in the 90′s you will come back. There is no limit of feathers you should buy.

Head up to barbarian village by the bridge close to the way to varrock (refer to RuneScape map to find). We will be luring salmon and trout here. These fish are decent in 3 ways: they heal good, they sell for a good price, they give good cooking xp. What you decide to do with the fish is all up to you, but I recommend you to cook them. To bank, run north to Edgeville and hit up the bank. It’s very annoying running back and forth to the bank, being a member is better.

Members: Fish these in Catherby or the Fishing guild. The absolute BEST spot and FASTEST way to level up fishing is to fish these in Shilo Village (do the quest). The bank is literally touching the fishing spots so it is extremely fast.

Level 35-50

Requirements: Harpoon

The fastest way to level is listed in the “20-X” section, so if you are looking for fast leveling refer to that instead. At level 35, you can catch tuna. They heal about 10hp and sell for a good price (although not sold very well). You will need money for this. Have anywhere for 1-5k gp in your inventory just to be safe. Go to port sarim and take the trip to Karamja, it is 30gp there and 30gp back. Walk past the banana trees to get to the fishing spot.

Level 50-60

Requirements: Lobster pot

Although it only takes level 40 to catch lobsters, they are WAY TOO SLOW at that level. Level 50 is a decent level for lobster catching. The rules are the same as getting tuna in the section before this (referring to going to Karamja). Lobsters sell for a great price, heal a great deal of health (12) and are a extremely fast way to leveling cooking.

Level 60+

Requirements: Harpoon

You need level 50 to catch Swordfish, but it is useless at that level. The prime level for catching swordfish is 60 because they come in at a decent rate. To get swordfish, refer to the karamja technique. These heal 15hp, the best food on F2P (free to play), sell for great (although not sold well) and are awesome for cooking xp.

Level 80+ (Members)

Requirements: Harpoon

Fast leveling involves my technique about fly fishing. If you are looking to take advantage of your fishing level to just fish for money, then it’s time for sharks. Go to the fishing guild or catherby to fish these. Stay calm as they come in slow, even at 99 fishing. Just watch some tv or do homework or anything else to pass time as you catch them.

Below is a guide from Tip.it

Net (Level 1):
When you first start fishing, the only things you can catch are shrimp and crayfish(mentioned above). These small creatures can be found in many parts of the sea in RuneScape. One of the best places if you want cooking experience as well, is on the seashore near Draynor Village. Just a little Southwest of the bank there’s a fishing spot where you can catch shrimp, and there are lots of trees around to get wood for your cooking fire. To catch shrimp, you’ll need a “Small Fishing Net”, that can be bought in the Port Sarim fishing shop for 5 gold pieces. You can also catch anchovies with the net at level 15.

If you are a member and have completed the Swan Song quest you might want to dust off your small net and put it back to use catching monkfish (level 62) at the Piscatoris Fishing Colony. Not only do they heal 16 each after cooking, also give more fishing experience than sharks!

Baiting at sea (Level 5):
Once you catch enough shrimp and your fishing level reaches 5, you will be able to catch sardines. To catch sardines, you’ll need a fishing rod and some bait. A fishing rod costs 5 gold pieces and Bait costs 3 gold pieces. You can also catch herring with bait and a fishing rod, but you will need level 10 fishing to catch them. You can catch both sardines and herring from the sea. To use your fishing rod and bait, first make sure you have both in your inventory. Then right-click on the fishing spot and select the second option, which is ‘Bait’. You will use one bait each time you catch a fish.

Baiting in river (Level 25):
You can also Fish with bait in the rivers of RuneScape, but you won’t catch sardines or herring as these are sea fish. When you fish with a fishing rod and bait in a river, you’ll catch pike. This fish heals 8, and you need level 25 to fish it. Again, get a fishing rod and some bait, and start fishing. Bait is the second option when you right click on the river fishing spots.

Note: You can also get bait from killing zombies and banshees.

Feathering/luring (Level 20):
Next up is fly-fishing. You will need level 20 fishing to catch trout, and level 30 fishing to catch salmon. To go fly fishing, you will need a fly fishing rod and some feathers. Like all other F2P fishing equipment, both can be bought in the fishing shop in Port Sarim. You can fly fish only in the RuneScape rivers. You cannot use your fly-fishing rod and feathers on fishing spots in the sea. To fly-fish, simply click on the fishing spot and to select “Lure”. You will use one feather each time you catch a fish.

Note: You can also get feathers from killing chickens.

If you’re fishing and cooking for experience, then Lumbridge is probably the best place to be. Just fish, get some wood, start a fire, cook your fish then either drop or eat. Fly-fishing is probably your best bet for power fishing because it has a high catch rate and can earn you over 50% more experience per hour than catching monkfish, even at level 90+!

If, however, you want to bank the fish instead of eat/drop it, then Barbarian village is probably the best place for you. Fish, cook them in the barbarian house farthest to the North (there’s 2 ever-lasting fires), and go North into Edgeville and bank your fish.

At level 38 members can catch rainbow fish by using stripy feathers rather than regular feathers. Stripey feathers can be obtained by snaring tropical wagtails (hunting level 19). Rainbow fish can be used raw to hunt barb-tailed kebbits, or cooked and eaten to heal 11hp.

Harpooning (Level 35):
Next up is the big boys (well, fish actually). Get your Harpoon (Port Sarim fishing shop, costs 5 gold pieces) and head off to the beautiful island of Karamja (take the boat from Port Sarim). Go down to the fishing dock, located North of the banana field. The trip to Karamja will cost you 30 gold pieces by the way, and another 30 to get back. Here you’ll be able to catch tuna with the harpoon. Simply right click on the fishing spot and select “harpoon”. Tuna is good for training on low level monsters that won’t hit you that hard. For example, Karamja Volcano has red spiders and skeletons which are good for training. There are also Lesser Demons, but you might need some better food for them.

Next on the harpooning chain is swordfish. You will need level 50 fishing to fish these. They heal 14 hp, and you catch them the same place you catch tuna. Depending on your fishing level, you will most likely get more tuna than swordfish when harpooning for them. Like the tuna, you also need a harpoon to catch swordfish.

Members who reach a lofty level 76 can start catching the bone-crunching sharks. They heal an amazing 20 hp, and you catch them the same place you go big net fishing.

Note: If you are p2p, you can obtain Barb-tail harpoons from Barb-tailed Kebbits (level 33 Hunter) or buy from other players. A barb-tail harpoon is wieldable, which frees up 1 more inventory space. That’s handy isn’t it?

Caging (Level 40):
You can also fish lobsters on Karamja. However, to do this, you will need a “Lobster Pot” to do this (don’t ask WHY they call it a pot…makes more sense to call it a cage. A pot is for cooking! Oh well…). The lobster pot will cost 20 gold pieces from the Port Sarim fishing shop. Lobsters are a great way of making money. Many people prefer lobsters for training food, because you only need level 40 to fish and cook them, and they heal 12 hp. Cage is the first option when you click on the sea fishing spot.

Hopefully this guide will help you! Good luck, let’s see that fishing cape soon!
